How To:

Make Your Own ...
  • Make Your Own Sensor - Fred wrote this tutorial for people trying to make sensors for the Cricket. This walks you through examples of making the four common sensors : temperature, touch, light, and reflectance. It also teaches you how to solder if you've never done it before.
  • Make Your Own Cricket Motor - Casey wrote this great tutorial for using random motors with the Cricket. It walks you through the calculations of what type of resistor to use, but also includes a nifty calculator for figuring it out automatically!
  • Cricket Sensor Reference - Casey made this to help find out how ICUs (International Cricket Units) map to actual resistance values.
  • Distance Sensor Calculator - If you're using the distance bus-device, Rahul made a little page to translate from ICUs to real distances.
  • Temperature Sensor Reference - If you're using the temperature sensor, and wondering what ICUs mean in actual degrees, then this is the graph for you!
Using LEGO bricks
  • The Art Of LEGO - This paper by Fred Martin which introduces the reader to the language of designing mechanisms with LEGO materials. Diagrams and sample models illustrate the ideas presented. Useful for someone trying to build LEGO robots. Also check out the new color images we took.
  • Using LEGO touch sensors - Here you can find a couple of examples of how to build stuff around the LEGO touch sensors that make them easier to use.
  • Random LEGO modules - These are a couple of simple LEGO motion modules we made for an event at the Smithsonion Museum.

Setup Help:

Serial Port Solutions
If you have a late model Macintosh, you need some kind of serial port replacement to have your cricket work with your USB port. Also, if you have a PC, you might need to download a serial driver.
Debugging Tips
So you've got a problem? Can't start LogoBlocks in PC? Can't find the Interface? Can't download to the Cricket? Bus device doesn't work? Here is a list of things that might help! Includes link to known bugs.
