Getting
Started with Your Cricket
|
You can use the software provided to create a program for your Cricket on a computer.
This program must then be transfered to the Cricket, which runs it. To set this up,
you must attach the Interface to your computer, and point the Cricket at it. The program
is sent from the Interface to the Cricket via infrared light, light a TV remote control
(thus they must be within sight of each other, less than a meter away).

1. Attach the serial cable to the back of your computer. If you have a PC,
note the name of the port you plug it into (COM1 or COM2). If you have a Mac, this
cable should plug into a Serial->USB adaptor.
| | |
2. Attach the serial cable to the Interface.
| | |
3. Make sure the Cricket and the Interface are both on. The Interface should have
a small green light on. The Cricket should beep when you turn it on, and a small red
light should be on.
| | |
4. Point the Cricket at the Interface. The two should be within a foot of each other.
| |
You're now ready to start programming.
